Comcast Data Center – Potomac
Centennial, CO

U.S. Engineering was awarded this Tier II data center from design development drawings. The project involved the remodel and conversion of an existing warehouse into a 30,000-square-foot data center.

Phase 1 of the project called for 9,000 square feet of white space with an IT load of 2.7 megawatts, with Phase 2 adding another 9,500 square feet of white space and 1.8 megawatts.

The all-new mechanical system features two 750-ton prefabricated chiller modules designed and constructed by U.S. Engineering in our Loveland shop. They each house a chiller, chilled and condenser pumps, expansion tank, heat exchanger, chemical treatment and controls. Once completed, the two-piece, 90,000-pound skids were shipped to the jobsite for final piping and electrical connections.

The data floor load is cooled by four 84,000-cfm custom air-handling units, plus Liebert XD (extreme density) system components. When all phases are complete, the building will be served by four 750-ton water-cooled chillers.
