This project was the complete mechanical renovation of a unique and historic high school. When constructed, this 150,000-square-foot building was the largest high school west of the Mississippi River, and is on the National Historic Register. U.S. Engineering's scope includes replacement of all air-handling equipment, the addition of many new air handling systems, and a new central plant to provide heating and chilled water. All work was completed only after close coordination with existing building components, architectural systems, and the historic classification of the building.
U.S. Engineering Company's scope of work also included new HVAC systems for the gymnasium and natatorium. The natatorium houses an Olympic-size swimming pool with spectator grandstands. The heating, cooling and dehumidification system for the natatorium utilized a dedicated air-handling unit and chilled-water system to maintain desired temperature and humidity levels.
