U.S. Engineering Company was the mechanical team member directly involved in the design and construction of this new 223,650-square-foot correctional facility for the Corps of Engineers. The design-assist team used a collaborative approach to defining scopes of work and hard pricing at the proposal stage of the project.
The project spans seven separate buildings, heated and cooled by a ground source heat pump system. The system was selected based on its ability to deliver optimum energy and operational efficiency. Each housing area utilizes 100 percent outside air heat recovery units, air from which is then conditioned through a water source heat pump.
An integrated Internet-based automation system ties all buildings together for effective management of the entire facility.
