IRS Processing Center

This design-build project encompasses approximately 1,200,000 square feet of construction including three (3) new IRS Processing buildings with a connected parking garage, renovation of an existing 1930s Post Office for new IRS offices, an underground tunnel, cafeteria with commercial kitchen, and a new warehouse building. The project includes a new central chilled-water plant to serve the new buildings as well as the renovated old Post Office. The new Processing building utilizes multiple central air-handling units to provide conditioned air via an underfloor air distribution system. This approach will utilize less energy, allow for future interior changes, and help achieve the desired LEED certification for the project.
U.S. Engineering was the lead mechanical contractor for the project, directing all design and preconstruction services as well as HVAC and plumbing construction activities.
