The Platte Valley Medical Center project involved construction of a 226,300-square-foot, full-service, 98-bed hospital facility with labs, pharmacy, emergency, surgery, imaging, labor and delivery, cath lab, kitchen, administrative offices and bed tower in the main building. A separate central utility plant with two 290-ton chillers, two 400-BHP dual-fired steam boilers and a 58,000-square-foot medical office building were also constructed on the same site.
U.S. Engineering led the 3-D CAD coordination effort for this project, a proactive approach to addressing constructability, schedule and design issues. The coordination effort and the extreme hard work and dedication of our onsite staff made Platte Valley Medical Center a quality, on-schedule and profitable project. Mechanical change orders for the project totaled only 4 percent of the original contract and were settled before project completion. The project was awarded via a public opening lump-sum bid.
